What is the IHSS Public Authority?

The In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Public Authority was established by state alw and local ordinance in 2001 by the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors.  The IHSS Public Authority is responsible for specific tasks to help eligible consumers and care providers of In-Home Supportive Services in our county.

The role of the IHSS Public Authority is to offer support to both consumers and care providers.

Staff is available at the IHSS Public Authority to explain our paperwork and payment process, including how to fill out timecards.  We provide information about local training and skills development opportunities.  Most importantly, a care provider registry is available to link consumers with care providers.

For more information about our services please call 831-454-4036

Attention: Current IHSS Providers

Information Balloon iconYou have recently received a letter from the California Department of Social Services with new instructions for registering as an IHSS provider. If you are already enrolled and are working for someone, you do not need to take any action at this time.

You will receive information regarding the new form and about fingerprinting within the next month or two. The deadline for existing providers to complete the new enrollment process and to be fingerprinted is June 30, 2010.

If you sign up to care for a new IHSS recipient, a social worker will give you more information about what you need to do.  Thank you for your patience.
